Charitable Support
The team at Storm are determined that those in need will benefit from the company's success. To make this happen, a group of Storm employees formed a committee to raise funds and to administer donations to selected charities and deserving causes. These donations to be made in the name of Storm's employees, affiliates and customers.
The committee received initial funding in the form of a generous donation from the company. This allowed the committee to initiate a program of charitable support, including the long term sponsorship of a child's education in Sri Lanka and financial support for a team of surgeons providing emergency treatment for children in under-developed regions. Initial funding has been 'topped up' by supplementary donations from the company and by sponsored activities undertaken by members of the STORM team. Customers, suppliers, affiliates and technology partners are also encouraged to support the adopted programs.

This is Katherine, one of the first beneficiaries of the Storm community support program. Katherine's picture was sent to us by her family, who kindly gave us permission to use Katherine's image. Katherine will be the icon used to identify news and reports about Storm's activities in the community.
In the past year donations and material support have been provided to ten different causes. The long term projects adopted by the committee are shown below. A message from Chain of Hope’s founder patron.
"It is a little known fact that around 1 child in every 100 is born with a heart defect. Most of these defects can be corrected by operations which are performed as a matter of routine in the developed world. In contrast, if uncorrected these defects can cause considerable suffering and premature death. This afflicts a massive number of children around the world. Chain of Hope is dedicated to helping as many of these children as we can. This is accomplished by bringing children to the UK and also by sending volunteer teams to their countries in the longer to help develop local facilities. I feel priviledged to be a link in the chain that helps these children"

Children are the hope for the world's future, yet they are its most vulnerable victims of conflict, disaster and poverty. Changing a child's life for the better is at the heart of the process of transformational development. This process first helps people and their communities recognise the resources that lie within themselves to make change possible. As a result, health care, agriculture production, water projects, education, micro-enterprise development, advocacy and other programmes are carried out by the community with the support of World Vision.
